Yes, I am an encyclopedia of pointless knowledge…but I love trivia. Did you know that fish scales are used to make lipstick? Since I don’t wear lipstick, I thought I could feel free to tell creepy things about it. Crushed fish scales, obtained mostly from herring, are used in lipstick to create a shimmering, pearlescent effect. Fish scales contain guanine, a crystalline compound that reflects light. This gives lipstick and nail polish a lustrous sheen.
Now, some people think that lipstick has bat poop in it, maybe because of the similarity of the words guanine and guano (bat poop). Guanine is also found in bat poop, but relax lipstick patrons, the guanine in cosmetics is from fish scales only…to the relief of lipstick users everywhere, I am sure.
I read a quote by NFL- Baltimore Ravens player, Ronnie Stanley. He said, “Energies are contagious.” I was curious as to what he meant so found some information and I think his idea is a good way to view life.
