Two Local Officers Were Honored For Their Extraordinary Courage

Two Local Officers Were Honored For Their Extraordinary Courage
From left to right: Lieutenant Jimmy Taylor of the Atoka Police Department, Atoka Police Chief Dodson, Stringtown Police Chief Duckworth, and Officer Gary Colley of the Stringtown Police Department. Lieutenant Taylor and Officer Colley were honored on June 16, 2025, for their exceptional bravery and unwavering dedication during a high-risk pursuit and shooting incident involving suspect Jason New, in May. This event, which began in Atoka following a shoplifting call and concluded north of Stringtown on US69 after a vehicle ramming and subsequent gunfight, truly tested their courage and commitment to public safety. Amidst the chaos, Lieutenant Taylor and Officer Colley selflessly put themselves in harm's way to rescue children and adults who were trapped inside a disabled vehicle positioned directly in the line of gunfire from the suspect. Their actions exemplify the professionalism and integrity of dedicated police officers and highlight their commitment to public safety.
