A report of an active physical altercation on June 28, 2025, led Atoka police to arrest a man for alleged public intoxication, marijuana possession, and minor in possession of tobacco.
At approximately 4:58 PM, Officer Christian Shomo was dispatched to the intersection of East A Street and Kentucky Avenue. Upon arrival, he was advised that three male subjects had fled the scene on foot, heading west toward the railroad tracks.
While Officer Peydon Griffith spoke with the victim on East B Street, an Atoka County Deputy informed Officer Shomo that three individuals matching the suspects’ description were seen near Ohio Avenue and East B Street. Officer Shomo proceeded to that location and identified the three males as Benjamin Scroggins, Toby Smith, and one juvenile.
