Louise Hight Cain, a prominent and lifelong resident of Atoka who, alongside her husband, shaped local media for decades as the former owner and publisher of the Atoka County Times, passed away peacefully in Durant, Oklahoma, on July 4, 2025. She was 84 years old.

Born on December 2, 1940, to Jewell and Ellen (Nix) Hight, Louise cultivated deep roots in Atoka County, attending Plainview School and graduating from Atoka High School in 1958. Her professional journey led her into the heart of Oklahoma's newspaper industry, where she dedicated over 50 years of her life. She married Foster Frederick Cain on December 2, 1976, and they shared 28 years of marriage prior to his death in 2004.
