Atoka County Assessor Joe McClour announced his resignation this week, effective Monday, August 4. He will be taking a new position with Oklahoma State University (OSU).
McClour informed the county commissioners of his decision on Monday, July 7. He stated that he has accepted an opportunity to work for OSU's Center for Local Government Technology, a role that will involve traveling statewide for the Assessor Training Accreditation Program.
"I've enjoyed serving the citizens of Atoka County as assessor for seven years," McClour stated, adding that his family is at a different stage in their lives. He believes this new role will "better align with our family needs and allow me to serve a new group of people."
