Local economies across Atoka County are showing positive trends as the Oklahoma Tax Commission recently disbursed city and county sales tax collections, primarily representing local tax receipts from May business and estimated sales from early June. The latest figures reveal an increase in collections compared to the same period last year, showing healthy retail activity.
Statewide, the disbursement of $203,937,980 in sales tax collections returned to cities and towns reflected an increase of $1,214,846 from the $202,723,134 distributed in July last year. Use tax disbursements to cities and towns totaled $34,131,944. Counties across Oklahoma shared in a $35,647,846 sales tax disbursement and a $7,228,830 use tax disbursement.
Atoka County experienced notable growth in both sales and use tax collections. The county's sales tax collection for this period was $1,170,050.45, an increase from $1,133,397.74 in the same period of 2024. Use tax collections for Atoka County also saw a jump, reaching $139,374.88 compared to $111,283.47 last year.
