A driver was arrested late Saturday night on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence after a traffic stop for reckless driving revealed signs of intoxication.
At approximately 11:35 p.m. on August 2, 2025, Officer Christian Shomo of the Atoka Police Department assisted Captain Austin Golden with a traffic stop at Super 8. Captain Golden had stopped the vehicle, driven by Andrew Wyrick, for allegedly failing to maintain its lane while traveling northbound on Highway 69.
Officer Shomo approached Wyrick, who was leaning against the tailgate of his vehicle. During their conversation, Officer Shomo detected a strong odor of alcohol, observed slurred speech and dilated pupils, and noted that Wyrick appeared to be relying on his vehicle for balance. Wyrick admitted to consuming 'two beers.'
