A routine traffic stop for a defective taillight on August 5, 2025, resulted in the arrest of a driver on drug possession charges after an officer discovered marijuana and ecstasy inside his vehicle.
At approximately 12:25 a.m., Officer Russell O'Neal of the Atoka Police Department was on patrol on Highway 69 when he observed a black Mazda with a defective passenger-side taillight. He initiated a traffic stop, and the vehicle came to a stop on the shoulder of Highway 75 and Allen Drive.
