A routine traffic stop for speeding and a defective tail light on August 9, 2025, resulted in the arrest of a Choctaw Nation member on drug charges after officers discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside his vehicle. The incident occurred within the City of Atoka, which is located in the territorial boundaries of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
At approximately 9:21 p.m., Lt. Jimmy Taylor of the Atoka Police Department was on routine patrol when he observed a silver car with a defective tail lamp traveling faster than the 25 MPH speed limit. Lt. Taylor initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Court and Kentucky.
The driver, identified as Jeremiah Alan Walker from a previous encounter, did not have his license on him. A check with dispatch revealed Walker had an active warrant from the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Tribal Court, and his driver's license was suspended.
