The Atoka City Council has appointed Chris McDaniel to represent Ward 2, filling the seat left vacant by the passing of former councilman Pat Turner. The appointment was made during the council meeting on Monday, August 18. McDaniel will serve the remainder of Turner's term and can file as a candidate for the next term.
McDaniel is a dedicated leader with a background in both education and ministry. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and a Master of Theological Studies from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, a background that has equipped him with a principled approach to local government. He is focused on fostering growth, strengthening families, and ensuring that Atoka remains a place where future generations can thrive.
His public service extends beyond city hall. McDaniel previously served for two years with the Harmony Volunteer Fire Department and five years with the Atoka Volunteer Fire Department, demonstrating his dedication to protecting his neighbors. He also currently serves as the police chaplain for the Atoka Police Department, providing support to officers and their families.
