The future of Atoka Public Schools is taking shape with a comprehensive bond project now officially underway. Funded by a $12 million voterapproved measure that passed in April 2024, the school district is moving forward with a series of major construction and upgrade initiatives.
'Atoka Public Schools is thrilled to share progress on its comprehensive bond project,' the district stated. “The project includes a new softball complex, an indoor athletic facility, an e-sports arena, and a major facelift for the middle school. The middle school will receive much-needed updates, including additional classrooms, new office facilities, and a west-facing entry to match the rest of the district, giving it a fresh and cohesive look.”
In addition to the new facilities, the project will fund increased security upgrades for a safer campus environment and expanded parking to accommodate the growing school community. The district noted that the project has been managed in a way that 'actually results in a lower ad valorem tax rate than the previous bond, ensuring that the financial impact on the community is minimal.' While students are navigating the temporary construction phase, the district says there's a 'palpable excitement about the changes on the horizon.' The school anticipates that the enhanced facilities will have a significant positive impact on the student experience, and the entire community is eager to see the final results.
