An Atoka man was arrested in the early morning hours of August 23rd on suspicion of driving under the influence. Chet James Latham, of Atoka, was pulled over after an officer observed him making an improper stop and failing to use a turn signal.
According to police, Officer Grady Blackwood was on routine patrol when he saw a Volkswagen Jetta stop for an extended period at an intersection and then turn without signaling.
The officer initiated a traffic stop, and upon contact with the driver, identified as Latham, he detected a strong odor of alcohol. The officer also noted Latham had red, bloodshot, and watery eyes.
