Stringtown Police Recover Stolen Truck

A man initially believed to be stranded with a disabled vehicle on Highway 69 was arrested by Stringtown Police after a brief encounter revealed the truck he was driving had a fraudulent license plate and had been reported stolen just days earlier.

On August 15, 2025, at approximately 7:32 P.M., Detective G. Colley of the Stringtown Police Department observed a silver Toyota Tundra with a camper shell stopped just off of Highway 69 near Victoria Road. The officer, believing the vehicle might be out of gas, returned to the location after completing a separate traffic stop.

A license plate check on the vehicle revealed the tag belonged to a Ford Escape, not the Toyota. Detective Colley then made contact with the driver, identified as Joe H. Spencer Jr., who was walking with a gas container. When confronted about the fraudulent license plate, Spencer became uncooperative and resisted being placed in handcuffs for the officer's safety.
