Traffic Stop Leads to DUI Arrest, Two Passengers Also Jailed

An Atoka traffic stop on August 22nd led to the arrest of three individuals, including the driver and two passengers. The driver, Guillermo Wilson Salazar Gallegos, was arrested after his vehicle nearly caused a collision and was observed to have a defective taillight.

Officer Zachary Rice pulled over a Toyota Corolla after it turned in front of another vehicle. Upon approaching the car, Officer Rice detected a strong odor of alcohol. He and Officer Drake Smith located an open container of beer and two THC vape pens in the vehicle.

The driver, Gallegos, admitted to using marijuana about an hour before the stop. Gallegos reportedly showed multiple signs of impairment during field sobriety tests conducted by Officer Rice and Officer Christian Shomo. He was arrested on suspicion of Failure to Yield to Oncoming Traffic, a Defective Vehicle violation, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Drugs, and Possession of both Marijuana (THC vape) and Drug Paraphernalia.
