He attended Dunbar School and Atoka Public School. Willie worked odd jobs, mowing, washing dished and maintenance at restaurants.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching football, especially Dallas Cowboys and paying close attention to how they were playing, and visiting with friends.
